ACWA & Shanghai Electric shall Complete the Financing of Dubai 700MW Solar Thermal Power Plant in Early 2018 and is Scheduled to be Completed in 2020
The Dubai 700MW Photovoltaic Power Plant is the fourth phase of the MBK project in Dubai and will be the largest CSP project in the world. It is reported that the project consists of three installed capacity of 200MW trough power station and a installed capacity of 100MW of tower power station, a total of 700MW. According to CSP Focus's previous report, the project announced in September that the winning bidder will be Saudi Aramco's ACWA Electric and Shanghai Electric Complex, with a total investment of 14.2 billion dirhams, or about 25.3 billion yuan.
On December 10, 2017, Paddy Padmanathan, CEO of ACWA Power, formally announced that the financing for the 700MW solar thermal power generation project in Dubai has now come to an end. All work is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2018, and construction of the project can be started later. Expected to be completed in 4Q2020. The government agency responsible for bidding for the project is Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), and the winning price of the joint venture between ACWA and Shanghai Electric Group is 7.3 cents / kWh, or about RMB 0.48 / kWh.
In addition to this project, ACWA Power also invested in the development of Morocco's Noor1 & 2 & 3 solar thermal power plant group (510MW total), South Africa's 50MW trough Bokpoort and 100MW tower Redstone thermal power plant. Has now become a pioneer in the field of solar thermal power, and constantly promote the commercial development of advanced technologies in the industry, and participate in the investment in building a number of solar thermal power station.
For the Chinese CSP market, ACWA said it has contacted many Chinese manufacturers, such as collector tubes, HTF, molten salt manufacturers, etc. Although CSPs in China are relatively lacking in actual supplier experience, ACWA Chinese suppliers are very confident. China's photothermal market has great potential and hopes to have the opportunity to cooperate.
